03BEFORE THE FIRST PAGE

The measure that
broke the world.

Eilador was founded on two principles:
Axios, earned weight. Charis, unearned gift.
This is how their balance came undone.

“One teaches a body to stand, the other keeps that body alive long enough to learn.”

200–1200THE PRIMORDIAL AGE

The Concord of the Whole

Before kingdoms and borders, Eilador was held together by shared roads, common work, and the Whole.

Unity was more than an ideal: bridges built together endured, and shared fields resisted blight. Beyond the Black Water, the Axiom-Tree reminded its people that survival was never an individual achievement.

1200–2200THE SECOND AGE

The Birth of the Measure

Seeking certainty, the Vulmeri turned Axios from a principle of discipline into a system for society.

Their courts pursued exactness and impartiality. But in their effort to make fairness absolute, mercy was gradually removed from everyday life. Charis—the unearned gift—became something the Measure could not accommodate.

2235THE THIRD COUNCIL

The Great Choice

A council near Llyn Cysgod attempted to bind the Measure into the very foundations of reality.

The rulers declared that kindness must be repaid and mercy must be earned. They sought a world in which Charis could never supersede Axios. Removing one of the world’s two foundational principles did not perfect it: it broke the balance.

THE AFTERMATHA WORLD COMING UNDONE

The Ancestral Fracture

From Falamh, the Fracture spread outward. Stone lost its binding, roads bent, and communities began to unravel.

The decay did not spread evenly. In places where life became purely transactional, the Fracture intensified. Where even quiet, unacknowledged kindness remained, its advance slowed. The broken world became a mosaic of these choices.

2273THE CARTOGRAPHERS OF GRACE

The Raising of the Tower

Eremon Vale established the Tower in Cael Ortha, giving the Cartographers of Grace a home.

Eremon mapped the Paths of Grace: places where unmerited kindness interrupted the Fracture. The order became scholars of those moments, bound by vows not to rule, sell their maps, demand belief, or seek recognition.
